CoderDojoSpreker: Steve Maddison (Engelstalig) AbstractCoderDojo is an international movement orientated around running free, not-for-profit coding clubs and regular sessions for young people. Since the opening of the first CoderDojo in Ireland in 2011, the movement has grown to over 100 dojos worldwide. At a CoderDojo, young people learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and more. Dojos are set up, run by and taught at by volunteers. CoderDojo makes development and learning to code a fun, sociable, kick ass experience. This talk will give a short introduction to CoderDojo and how the movement is now taking off in the Netherlands. BiographySteve’s fascination with all things computer-related started in his early childhood and has since developed into a diverse career spanning more than 14 years. Starting out in software development, his professional interests gradually spread into systems administration and architecture. Complementary to his current role as Senior UNIX Engineer at Competa, Steve remains a keen programmer who enjoys contributing to open source projects in his spare time, in which he can also often be found tinkering with the various machines in his classic computer and game system collection. |
